Does ingrown toenail treatment hurt?+
The only discomfort is the initial local anaesthetic, which numbs the toe completely via a ring block. After that you feel only pressure. Simple painkillers manage any tenderness afterwards.
Will the ingrown toenail come back?+
Partial nail removal treats the nail-forming tissue, so the in-growing edge is far less likely to regrow and recurrence rates are low in experienced hands. A simple trim often returns.
How much does it cost?+
Your price is confirmed in writing at your consultation and depends on whether one or both edges, or the whole nail, need treating. The consultation fee is waived if you proceed, or deducted.
Do I need a GP referral?+
No referral is needed. You can book directly at our London, Wilmslow or Liverpool clinics, typically within days.
Can I walk afterwards?+
Yes, most people walk out and return to light activity the same day. It is unlikely you will be able to drive, you'll need roomy or open footwear for a short while and should avoid sport briefly while it heals.
How long does it take to heal?+
The toe is usually comfortable within a few days, with the area fully settled over a couple of weeks. Keep the dressing clean and dry and follow your aftercare advice.
