About milia
What is a milia and why do they form?
Milia (milk spots) are small, firm, white or yellowish bumps just beneath the skin's surface and tiny cysts filled with keratin. They're completely harmless but stubborn.
They appear most often on the cheeks, nose, and around and under the eyes, and are common in both adults and newborns. Unlike spots, they're not infected and can't be squeezed away and they often persist for months.
Because milia sit in delicate skin, especially around the eyes, they're best removed by a clinician using a sterile technique whilst being quick, precise, and with minimal disturbance to the surrounding skin.

Does milia removal hurt?+
There's very little discomfort. Precision extraction feels like a tiny scratch; a topical numbing cream can be used, especially around the eyes. Most people find it quick and easy.
How much does milia removal cost?+
Your price is confirmed in writing at your consultation and depends on the number of milia — they're removed in a single visit, with a larger number often more cost-effective as a package. The consultation fee is waived if you proceed, or deducted. We never upsell.
Can I just squeeze milia at home?+
It's best not to. Milia are firm cysts under intact skin, not spots — squeezing or picking risks scarring and infection, especially around the eyes. A clinician removes them cleanly and safely.
Will milia come back?+
The milia removed won't return, but new ones can form over time depending on your skin. Your clinician can advise on skincare to help reduce them.
Do I need a GP referral?+
No referral is needed. You can book directly at our London, Wilmslow or Liverpool clinics.
Will it leave a scar?+
Like our inspiration Antonio Canova, we keep artistry and beauty in mind with our work and shall keep you informed each step of the way. Scarring is minimal to non-existent once fully healed.
