How we work with doctors
Canova Medical is a referral partner to GPs, dermatologists, private clinicians and occupational health teams across the UK. We accept both formal referrals and self-referred patients, and we keep referring clinicians informed at every stage.
Rapid access, specialist assessment, clear correspondence.
Referred patients are typically offered a consultation within days at our London, Wilmslow or Liverpool clinics. Urgent concerns are prioritised.
✓Specialist assessment
Every patient is seen by a GMC-registered plastic surgeon or dermatologist with specific expertise in skin lesions and skin cancer, including dermoscopic examination where indicated.
✓Histology as standard practice
Where there is any diagnostic uncertainty, excised tissue is sent for histopathological analysis at an accredited laboratory. Results are explained to the patient personally and copied to you with their consent.
✓Clear correspondence
You receive a consultation summary, the procedure record and the histology report, so your patient’s record remains complete.
✓Safe onward pathways
If histology confirms melanoma or another diagnosis requiring wider excision, sentinel node assessment or multidisciplinary review, we arrange prompt onward referral and communicate directly with you.
Three steps.
1. Send your referral letter or email to our clinical team, or ask your patient to contact us directly and mention your name.
2. We contact the patient within one working day to arrange their consultation.
3. You receive correspondence at each clinical milestone: assessment, procedure and results.
Every clinician is checked before they see a single patient.
Every clinician who joins Canova Medical is GMC-registered, independently referenced, appraised and revalidated, with current indemnity and DBS clearance. Our clinical governance panel reviews each appointment before a clinician sees a single patient, and our clinics operate under CQC registration with regular internal audit of outcomes, infection control and patient feedback.
