Modern slavery statement

Statement for the financial year ending 31 March.

Modern slavery is a crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. Canova Medical Limited is committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings and to ensuring that modern slavery and human trafficking have no place in our business or our supply chains. We publish this statement voluntarily, in the spirit of section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015.

Our business

Canova Medical Limited is registered in England and Wales, company number 05163384, registered office 36A Alderley Road, Wilmslow SK9 1JX. We are a specialist private healthcare provider, delivering consultation, diagnosis and surgical treatment of skin lesions and skin cancer at CQC-registered clinics in England. Our workforce comprises directly engaged clinical, patient care and operational staff, together with self-employed GMC-registered consultant clinicians.

Our supply chains

Our supply chains are comparatively short and largely UK-based, and include medical consumables and instruments, histopathology laboratory services, clinical waste management, information technology, professional services and premises services.

Our policies and practices

• Ethical recruitment. We recruit directly, verify every employee's identity and right to work in the UK, and pay at or above all statutory minimums. Patient-facing roles are subject to DBS checks.
• Clinician vetting. All clinicians are GMC-registered and independently referenced through our clinical governance process.
• Supplier standards. We expect suppliers to comply with all applicable laws, including the Modern Slavery Act 2015, and we favour reputable, regulated and accredited suppliers, particularly for clinical services.
• Raising concerns. Any member of staff can raise concerns about unethical practice, including suspected modern slavery, directly with senior management, and we investigate all concerns promptly. Whistleblowers are protected from detriment.

Risk assessment

We assess our overall exposure to modern slavery risk as low, given the regulated nature of healthcare, our direct employment model and our predominantly UK supply base. We remain vigilant, particularly in relation to indirect supply chains for consumables, and keep our assessment under review.

Continuous improvement

Over the coming year we will continue to review supplier onboarding checks, staff awareness and this statement itself, which is reviewed and approved annually by the Board of Canova Medical Limited.
