What a seborrhoeic keratosis is.
A seborrhoeic keratosis is a common, benign skin growth. It is waxy, warty or 'stuck-on' in appearance, ranging from pale to dark brown. They're harmless and become more common with age.
They appear most often on the face, scalp, chest and back, and can be single or multiple. They're not caused by a virus and aren't contagious. They're simply a build-up of surface skin cells.
People choose removal when a growth catches on clothing, itches, bleeds when knocked, or is cosmetically bothersome. Because a dark, changing keratosis can occasionally mimic a melanoma, assessment first is important.

Is a seborrhoeic keratosis dangerous?+
No, seborrhoeic keratoses are benign and harmless. However, a dark or changing one can occasionally look like a melanoma, so it's worth having any growth confirmed by a specialist before removal.
How much does removal cost?+
