What our patients say

I have attended Canova Medical Liverpool twice for wart removal. The service received is excellent from making a referral and being seen within 24hours. Assessment and surgery was carried out on the same day by Dr Dutta who is extremely professional. He explained the procedure fully which was carried out with great care and attention. Isabel on reception is friendly, helpful and efficient. Overall an exceptional service from start to finish and I would highly recommend.

I found Canoca clinic on line and booked an appointment for a consultation and same day treatment. From the first phone call to leaving the clock following treatment I was treated with professionalism , knowledge by friendly staff. As a senior health professional myself, I was reassured by the whole holistic approach. I’m very happy to recommend the clinic.

What a lovely clinic , staff and the doctor were totally professional. Explained everything as we went along, there was no hidden fees . The care I received from start to finish was first class. I would have no hesitation going back if I needed more treatment . I also had a phone call from a member of staff the day after to make sure I was happy with my treatment, and I had no problems . As I said I can’t fault anything, the whole process was faultless Thankyou

The Canova difference

Consultation and removal, by one surgeon.

Many clinics see you and then send you elsewhere to be treated weeks later. We run consultation and procedure on one pathway wherever it's clinically appropriate because our clinics are surgeon-staffed and our procedure rooms are on site.

If your surgeon recommends removal and you're happy to proceed, it's a completed in a single visit, under local anaesthetic.

Consultation

A specialist assessment

Your surgeon examines the wart, confirms the treatment plan and gives a fixed quotation.

Your decision

No pressure

Proceed, book for later or simply take a specialist opinion. It's your choice.

About wart

What is a wart and why do they form?

Warts are small, rough-textured growths caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). They're harmless but contagious, and can spread or multiply if left.

The virus enters through tiny breaks in the skin often after contact with another wart or a contaminated surface. Common warts appear on the hands, fingers and knees; plantar warts (verrucae) on the soles of the feet; and facial and genital warts in more sensitive areas.

Many warts eventually clear on their own, but this can take months or years and they can spread in the meantime. Professional treatment clears them faster and more reliably, especially stubborn or recurrent warts.

Confirmed by a specialist first

Your surgeon confirms it's a wart and chooses the most effective method for its type and site.

Discreet, minimal-scarring technique

Treatment is planned to clear the wart while protecting the surrounding skin.

Confidential care for sensitive areas

Facial and genital warts are treated sensitively and in confidence.

Common questions

Wart Removal, answered.

Is wart removal painful?+

There's little to no discomfort. The area is numbed with a local anaesthetic, so you feel only slight pressure during removal.

How much does wart removal cost?+

Your price is confirmed in writing at your consultation and depends on the size, number and type of wart. A shave removal under local anaesthetic is our most common option, with surgical excision for larger, deeper or recurrent warts. The consultation fee is waived if you proceed, or deducted from your future treatment fee.

How many treatments will I need?+

Most warts are removed in a single visit. If you have several, or a recurrent one, your surgeon will advise whether a follow-up is needed.

Will it leave a scar?+

Like our inspiration Antonio Canova, we keep artistry and beauty in mind with our work and shall keep you informed each step of the way. Our techniques aim to minimise scarring. The risk depends on the wart's size, location, the method used and how you heal.

Can warts come back?+

Proper professional treatment significantly reduces the chance of the treated wart returning. As HPV is within your system, warts can still appear.

Is professional removal better than over-the-counter?+

Expert-administered treatments tend to work better, particularly for stubborn warts. Your surgeon will confirm the diagnosis as occasionally a growth that looks like a wart might be something else.

Do I need a GP referral?+

No referral is needed. You can book a consultation directly at our London, Wilmslow or Liverpool clinics, typically within days.
