Since 2004, Canova Medical has provided clinician-led mole removal and skin assessments for patients across Wilmslow, Cheshire, and Greater Manchester — including Alderley Edge, Knutsford, Macclesfield, and Stockport.
Whether you’re concerned about a mole that has changed in appearance or want one removed for cosmetic reasons, our doctors carry out a thorough clinical assessment before any treatment, including checks for suspicious lesions.
Same-day removal is available where appropriate.
What Is a Mole?
Moles (medically known as nevi) are common skin growths made up of pigmented cells (melanocytes). Most are completely harmless and present from birth or develop over time through sun exposure. They can be flat or raised, smooth or rough, and range in colour from pink to dark brown.
You may want mole removal if your mole:
- Has changed in size, shape, or colour
- Is itchy, bleeding, or crusting
- Catches on clothing or jewellery
- Affects your confidence
Important: While most moles are benign, any mole that changes rapidly should be assessed by a clinician before removal. At Canova Medical, every patient receives a thorough clinical assessment as a first step.
How Mole Removal Works at Canova Medical
Step 1 — Consultation Your doctor will examine the mole, discuss your concerns, and recommend the most appropriate removal method. If there are any concerns about the appearance of the mole, you’ll be advised accordingly before proceeding.
Step 2 — Treatment Depending on the mole’s size, depth, and location, removal is carried out using:
- Treatments excision — the mole is cut out and the skin closed with fine sutures. Ideal for raised or deeper moles.
- Shave excision mole removal — the mole is carefully shaved flush with the surrounding skin surface. No sutures required. Suitable for superficial, raised moles and results in minimal downtime.
A local anaesthetic is applied first, so the procedure is comfortable throughout.
Step 3 — Aftercare You’ll leave with clear written aftercare instructions and a follow-up plan. Most patients are back to their normal routine the same day.
Mole Removal from Any Area of the Body
We remove moles from all areas of the body, including the face, nose, neck, scalp, and more sensitive areas. Your doctor will advise on the most appropriate technique depending on the mole’s location. All procedures are carried out in a fully clinical, private setting.

As a senior health professional myself, I was reassured by the whole holistic approach. I’m very happy to recommend the clinic.

I had 5 moles removed on the same day as my consultation by Dr. Pratap Dutta. He explained the procedure very clearly, made me feel completely at ease, and answered all of my questions thoroughly. The whole process was smooth and professional, and I felt well looked after throughout. Highly recommend!

The team are excellent very knowledgeable, friendly and completely put you at ease. I cannot recommend this place enough.
Thank you to Anna, Charlotte and Jennie.
You do an amazing job,

My legs feel constantly smooth and I never think about shaving them. I’ve gone from shaving everyday to every few weeks and that was only after 4 sessions.
I am recommending all my friends to try it, you won’t regret it.
And a bonus is getting to have a chat with the lovely Charlotte who made the whole process even better!

Highly recommended 👌.
Thank you Canova team.

Yes. We remove moles from all facial areas including the nose, cheeks, and around the eyes. Your doctor will recommend the technique least likely to cause visible scarring in these more visible areas.
Shave excision involves carefully removing a raised mole flush with the surrounding skin. No sutures are needed and recovery is typically faster than Treatments excision. Your doctor will confirm suitability at your consultation.
Written aftercare instructions are provided to every patient. Follow-up appointments are recommended where appropriate. The cost of routine follow-up is included — your doctor will confirm this at your consultation.
Moles are made up of pigmented cells and are usually round or oval. Skin tags are soft, flesh-coloured growths that hang from the skin. We treat both — if you’re unsure which you have, your doctor will assess at consultation.
