Are My PIP Implants Safe?

PIP breast implants are silicone breast prosthesis made up of non-medical grade silicone and manufactured by the French company Poly Implant Prothese. These particular implants had an unusually high rupture rate.

Some symptoms to keep an eye out for include: lumpiness or swelling around the breast, deflation of the breast, redness, tenderness, and pain or sensitivity. There is no evidence of link with cancer however any woman concerned about her prosthesis should check their integrity contacting the GP and undergoing an ultra sound scan or preferably an MRI scan.

Whatever status they are in, a removal and replacement procedure is highly recommended.
