Chemical Peels

(Alpha Hydroxy Acid Treatments)

Chemical PeelsChemical peeling is a technique used to improve the appearance of the skin using a chemical solution to smooth the texture of the facial skin by removing its damaged outer layers.

Alpha Hydroxy acids (AHAs), such as glycolic, lactic or fruit acids and Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA), are the most commonly recognised chemical peel solutions and may be used to treat fine wrinkling, areas of dryness, uneven pigmentation (i.e., sun spots, age spots) and acne.

After an adequate consultation, with an exhaustive medical history, the AHA or TCA solution is applied to the skin. The procedure usually takes no more than 15 minutes, no anaesthesia is needed and no “after-peel” ointment or covering is required.

Chemical peels may be combined with dermal fillers to achieve skin rejuvenation customised to the needs of the individual patient.

Depending on the strength of the chemical peel, periodic treatments may be necessary until the desired effects are achieved.
