Cosmetic Surgery Procedure
What happens before, during and after a cosmetic surgery procedure?
Step 1: Consultation with your Surgeon
The duration of your one-hour Consultation will be with the Surgeon performing your cosmetic surgery procedure. (Click here to meet the team at Canova Medical.)
He will take the time to get to know you and the outcomes you’re looking for. The recommendations he’ll make will be based upon your specific needs.
You can expect the Surgical Consultation to include:
- A thorough review of your medical history.
- A discussion on your expectations from your desired cosmetic surgical procedures, and what cosmetic surgery may realistically offer you. (Including what you cannot realistically expect from surgery.)
- A general physical examination of the area to be treated.
Having decided that you are a suitable candidate for cosmetic surgical procedures, your Surgeon will then recommend a treatment plan. The treatment plan will generally cover:
- The intended operation.
- The type of anaesthesia to be used.
- Whether it will be a day case or overnight stay.
- The date of surgery.
- Details of the hospital where the surgery will take place.
- Type and size of implants (if you’re having a breast enlargement).
There is a one-off £120 consultation fee for Surgical Consultations.
Why is there a consultation fee?
It is normal for medical specialists to charge a fee for their time. The cosmetic surgery clinics that do not charge a fee use the Consultation as a promotion. So when you have a Consultation at Canova Medical you will receive our professional, medical opinion, as you would expect from a medical specialist.
The Consultation fee is a one-off charge: there are no further Consultation fees, neither for your follow-up review appointments, nor for any other treatments you may consider in future. Once you’ve seen us, you’ll be part of the Canova family.
100% Satisfaction Guarantee
When you pay for a Consultation, you want to make sure that you get value for money. And for us, that means that the Surgeon gives you detailed and personalised advice based on your own, unique needs. (Whereas at other Clinics, you may receive a sales pitch from a Patient Coordinator with no medical training.) At Canova Medical, many patients find the Consultation so in-depth that they take notes, as there’s so much good advice on offer.
However, you’ll receive a refund (without you needing to ask for it) if you are not a good candidate for cosmetic surgery. This way you can try Canova Medical risk-free to see if we’re right for you.
Step 2: Cooling-off period
Once you’ve had your Surgical Consultation, and you feel that you have all the necessary information to proceed, Canova Medical will give you a cooling-off period. This cooling-off period gives you the opportunity to think your cosmetic surgery procedure through.
Step 3: Booking your operation
When you’ve decided that you’d like to go ahead, you’ll be invited to call our medical team to book your operation.
The vast majority of our patients undergo their surgery at least two weeks after their Consultation.
Step 4: Pre-operative preparation
In some cases (where it would be beneficial to your health), you may be asked to take some pre-operative measures before your surgery.
These measures vary according to your personal situation, and may range from weight loss; to checking all allergy risks (for anaesthesia and other substances used during surgery); to making arrangements to take a few days off after your surgery.
Step 5: Surgery
Your surgery will take place at one of our approved (and very comfortable) private hospitals. You’ll know in advance how long you’ll be at the hospital for: in most cases it is normally one to three hours.
The Canova Medical team will follow you throughout the process and will give you all the assistance you need to have a safe and comfortable recover period. You will also be given a number that you can call 24/7 with any questions or concerns.
Step 6: Follow-up appointment
Stitches are normally removed after two weeks, though in some cases dissolvable sutures are used.
Supportive garments may be required for some types of surgery: we will supply these to you.
Remember, there are no extra fees for your follow-up appointment (or for any future Consultations or appointments). This is one of the perks of being part of the Canova Medical family!
Step 7: Recovery period
The recovery period varies, depending on the cosmetic surgery procedure you’ve selected. The recovery time for cosmetic surgical procedures ranges from one week to one month (maximum).
Your Nurse and your Surgeon will provide you with all the information, tips and suggestions to make this time safe and comfortable.
After that, you’re free to enjoy your new appearance!
“From the first contact with the Canova team, I felt confident I was going to be in good hands. All telephone calls and emails were responded to promptly and any enquiries or concerns were addressed and my mind put at ease.
Nina was excellent at arranging a prompt, but convenient consultation with Mr Persico to discuss the removal and replacement of my PIP implants. It had been a very worrying time but meeting with Mr Persico went a long way to reassuring me. He was exactly right in all his advice and I’m so happy I trusted his excellent judgment.
I had my removal and replacement surgery at Bridgewater Hospital performed by Mr Persico and he did a fantastic job, and the hospital was lovely. My follow up appointments with Nina were fabulous and the aftercare provided by Mr Persico was great, Nina was so approachable and I felt I could call with any questions and appreciated the calls to check on me that Nina made.
I can’t thank the team enough for that care they have shown me and would confidently recommend Canova Medical to anyone who is looking into Cosmetic Surgery.
